On May 22, 2025, Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) released a statement following the House of Representatives’ narrow passage of President Trump’s One Big, Beautiful Bill Act with a vote tally of 215-214-1.

Rep. Norman expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating: “The House just secured BIG WINS for taxpayers in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.” He highlighted several key provisions included in the bill: permanent tax cuts for American families, funding for border security to facilitate deportations, exemption from taxes on tips and overtime pay, prohibition of funds for transgender treatments, and restrictions on Medicaid funds for Planned Parenthood.

Rep. Norman emphasized his active role in shaping the legislation: “Now let me be clear — I didn’t just cast a vote. I worked my tail off during this process to make this bill better for the American taxpayer.” He noted specific amendments he advocated for, such as advancing work requirements for Medicaid recipients from 2029 to 2026 and accelerating the repeal of tax credits associated with what he termed Biden’s Green New Scam.

He concluded by underscoring his commitment to fiscal responsibility: “Leadership isn’t about making the perfect the enemy of the good, but it’s about moving the ball forward without selling out your principles.” Rep. Norman reiterated that South Carolinians expect tangible results and viewed this legislative effort as progress toward curbing government spending.
