Winthrop’s Logan Duncomb has been named a finalist for the 2025-26 Lou Henson Award, according to a March 12 announcement from collegeinsider.com. The award is presented annually to the top player in mid-major college basketball.
Duncomb’s season included several record-breaking performances and consistent high-level play. He averaged 18.3 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, earning him spots on the Big South All-Conference First Team and recognition as Player of the Year. Over the course of the season, he recorded 14 games with at least 20 points and achieved 14 double-doubles.
Duncomb set new single-season records for free throws made (189) and attempted (258), surpassing marks previously held by Keon Johnson and Charles Brunson. He became only the second player in Winthrop program history to average a double-double in conference play, posting averages of 21.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game against league opponents. Additionally, he is just the second Eagle to average more than 20 points per game versus conference competition—a feat accomplished only three times in program history.
Among his standout performances were a career-high 38-point game at Presbyterian College on January 24, where he made 13 field goals and converted on 12 free throws, as well as tying the program’s single-game mark for free throws made with 18 at UNC Asheville on January 31. Duncomb also set personal bests in assists (six) against Gardner-Webb on February 12 and rebounds (16) versus USC Upstate on February 19.
In addition to being named a Lou Henson Award finalist, Duncomb was recently announced as a finalist for the Nolan Richardson Award, which honors an NCAA Division I player recognized as the heart and soul of his team both on and off the court. The recipient of this annual award will be determined by a committee composed of current and former head coaches along with senior staff members from collegeinsider.com, with results announced during the men’s Division I Basketball Championship in Indianapolis.
