Ralph Norman, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 5th district since 2017, posted a series of statements on his official Twitter account addressing national issues ranging from drug policy to abortion rights and military remembrance.
On August 25, 2025, Norman wrote, “Fentanyl is destroying families and communities across our nation. I fully support @realDonaldTrump’s ‘Make America Fentanyl Free’ campaign to stop this crisis and save lives.
We must shut down the cartels and end this crisis once and for all!!”
The following day, Norman commented on ongoing legal disputes in South Carolina regarding abortion access: “Planned Parenthood is suing SC again. The People spoke. SCOTUS ruled. Congress acted.
This isn’t about rights — it’s about their addiction to taxpayer dollars.” This statement was made as litigation continues over state-level abortion restrictions following recent Supreme Court decisions.
Later that same day, Norman reflected on the anniversary of a deadly event during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan: “Today marks 4 years since the Abbey Gate attack in Kabul.
13 brave Americans were killed because of the botched Afghanistan withdrawal.
We must never forget their sacrifice or the shameful failures that cost them their lives.”
Norman has represented South Carolina’s 5th District in Congress since succeeding Mick Mulvaney in 2017 and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives for over a decade. Born in Rock Hill, South Carolina in 1953, he continues to reside there today after graduating from Presbyterian College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1975.
