Ralph Norman, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 5th district since 2017, has recently addressed issues ranging from immigration enforcement to civic education and local industry in a series of posts on his social media account.
On October 30, 2025, Norman highlighted concerns regarding the safety of ICE agents, stating: “ICE agents are risking their lives to remove violent criminals — and now face an 8,000% spike in death threats. Sanctuary politicians’ reckless rhetoric has real, dangerous consequences.”
Later that day, he shared his experience engaging with students at a local school: “Enjoyed speaking with 8th graders at Dutchman Creek Middle in Rock Hill! We talked about the Constitution and how my work in Congress centers on protecting it. Great questions from some sharp young minds!!” (October 30, 2025).
On October 31, Norman turned his attention to local business resilience during government disruptions: “Even during a government shutdown, business and innovation keep moving. I toured MacLean Power Systems in York, one of three South Carolina sites leading the way in utility infrastructure. From insulators to cross arms, everything on a utility pole is made here, all with zero”.
Norman has represented South Carolina’s 5th District since replacing Mick Mulvaney in Congress in 2017. Prior to this role, he served over a decade in the South Carolina House of Representatives. Born and residing in Rock Hill—where he also recently spoke with middle schoolers—Norman graduated from Presbyterian College with a Bachelor of Science degree.
