Ralph Norman, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 5th district since 2017, used his social media account on August 11, 2025, to highlight recent legislative actions and federal initiatives led by Republicans.

In a post published at 16:35 UTC, Norman stated, “Democrats wanted your taxes to skyrocket at the end of 2025. Republicans stopped it. We made Trump’s tax cuts permanent and delivered even more relief for workers, families, and small businesses.”

Later that day at 18:04 UTC, he commented on a legislative achievement by writing, “The One Big Beautiful Bill is the most conservative win in years — permanent tax cuts, $1.1T in deficit reduction, work requirements for welfare, & a rollback of Green New Deal waste. Proud the @freedomcaucus fought to make it happen.”

At 21:00 UTC on the same day, Norman addressed public safety measures in Washington D.C., stating “.@realDonaldTrump is stepping in where D.C. leaders have failed — surging federal law enforcement to crack down on out of control violent crime. Washington belongs to the American people, and they deserve to feel safe in their own capital.”

Norman has served as a member of Congress since replacing Mick Mulvaney in 2017 and previously held office in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2005 to 2017. Born in Rock Hill in 1953 and currently residing there, Norman graduated from Presbyterian College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1975.
