Ralph Norman, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 5th district since 2017, has recently shared his thoughts on tax legislation through a series of tweets. Norman, who succeeded Mick Mulvaney in Congress and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2005 to 2017, addressed issues related to income taxes and legislative achievements alongside former President Donald Trump.
On July 8, 2025, Norman announced “The One Big Beautiful Bill eliminates income taxes on tips and overtime.” He emphasized that this measure would result in “more money in the pockets of South Carolina workers — not Washington bureaucrats.”
The following day, July 9, he highlighted the impact of preserving the Trump Tax Cuts. According to Norman’s tweet “South Carolina families were facing a $1,300 tax hike if the Trump Tax Cuts expired.” He credited House Republicans and President Trump for ensuring that “the hike is off the table.”
Later on July 9, Norman expressed satisfaction with conservative legislative successes. He tweeted “Alongside @realDonaldTrump, @freedomcaucus delivered real conservative wins in the One Big Beautiful Bill.” He added an optimistic note by stating “And we’re just getting started.”
Ralph Norman was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina in 1953 and currently resides there. He graduated from Presbyterian College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1975.
