Rep. Ralph Norman, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 5th district since 2017, posted a series of updates on his official Twitter account addressing recent events and community engagements.

On August 26, Norman highlighted his participation in a business-focused event: “Last week, I joined @SCChamber’s Washington Night to hear directly from business leaders across South Carolina. Proud to keep fighting in Washington for policies that support jobs, families, & our economy.”

The following day, he responded to news from Minneapolis with a message of condolence and gratitude: “The news out of Minneapolis is heartbreaking. Evil like this should never touch our schools or our kids. Praying for the families and grateful for the first responders.” (August 27).

Later on August 27, Norman commented on an incident involving military personnel: “Felony assault on two SC National Guard soldiers in DC is unacceptable. Those who serve deserve respect, not attacks. Justice must be swift!!”

Norman has represented South Carolina’s 5th District in Congress since replacing Mick Mulvaney in 2017 and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2005 to 2017. Born in Rock Hill, South Carolina in 1953, he continues to reside there and graduated from Presbyterian College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1975.
