Ralph Norman, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 5th district since 2017, has been active on social media, sharing his views and legislative priorities. He replaced Mick Mulvaney in Congress and has previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives.
On June 16, 2025, Norman expressed his support for legislation that prioritizes American safety by withholding federal funding from cities that defy immigration laws. In his tweet, he stated: “I’m proud to support legislation that puts American safety first. If a city chooses to defy federal immigration law and shield illegal immigrants, they should not receive your tax dollars. No more Community Development Block Grants for sanctuary cities.”
The following day, June 17, 2025, Norman shared his recognition as a Champion of Limited Government. He highlighted being ranked among the top ten members of Congress for upholding constitutional principles based on an extensive study involving over 100,000 votes: “Honored to be named a Champion of Limited Government & ranked among the Top 10 in Congress for upholding the principles of the U.S. Constitution. This was based on 100,000+ votes — one of the most comprehensive studies ever done on Congress.”
On June 18, 2025, Norman commented on international security concerns regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions. He criticized previous administrations’ leadership while addressing Iran’s threat to global democracies: “The fact that Iran, the world’s top sponsor of terror, is attempting to build up nuclear weapons is a direct threat to democracies everywhere. It’s intolerable. The weak leadership of the Obama and Biden administrations let it escalate to this boiling point.”
