U.S. Representative Ralph Norman, who has represented South Carolina’s 5th district in Congress since 2017, posted a series of statements on social media regarding agricultural labor rules and recent tax legislation.

On August 7, 2025, Norman wrote, “I led a bicameral letter urging the @USDOL to rescind these Biden-era rules, fix the broken AEWR formula, and work with President Trump’s Cabinet to bring real reform and flexibility to H-2A. Our farmers deserve support, not more red tape.” In a separate post on the same day, he provided a link for further reading: “Read more here: https://t.co/bhAT3pLlRY”.

The following day, Norman commented on tax policy changes: “Under Trump, we passed historic tax cuts for working Americans. This year, Republicans made them permanent and went even further. More money in your pocket. Less in Washington’s. That’s how it should be.”

Norman’s remarks reflect ongoing debates about federal agricultural labor regulations and fiscal policy. The H-2A program allows U.S. employers to bring foreign nationals to fill temporary agricultural jobs; its wage formula (AEWR) and regulatory framework have been subjects of partisan disagreement in recent years.

Ralph Norman has served in Congress since replacing Mick Mulvaney in 2017 and previously held office in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2005 to 2017. Born in Rock Hill, South Carolina in 1953, Norman graduated from Presbyterian College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1975.
