Ralph Norman, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 5th district since 2017, shared several updates on his official X account on February 3, 2026. The posts addressed issues in Washington politics and highlighted legislative efforts to honor a Vietnam War hero.

In a tweet posted at 18:17 UTC, Norman wrote, “We don’t need more games in Washington. Democrats need to stop the fear mongering, fund ICE, and return to regular order.”

In another post at the same time, Norman announced progress on legislation honoring Major James Capers Jr., stating: “Today, America moves one step closer to rightfully honoring Major James Capers Jr. with the Medal of Honor. The House has passed my legislation to advance this long-overdue recognition for his extraordinary heroism in Vietnam. Wounded, outnumbered, and under fire, he never quit”.

Norman has served as South Carolina’s representative in Congress since replacing Mick Mulvaney in 2017 and previously held office in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2005 to 2017. Born in Rock Hill in 1953 and currently residing there, Norman graduated from Presbyterian College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1975.
