Rep. Ralph Norman, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 5th district since 2017, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing national security, higher education policy, and tax reform.

On September 3, 2025, Norman shared his support for the South Carolina National Guard’s deployment to Washington, D.C., writing: “Honored to meet the @SCNationalGuard deployed to help fight the crime around our nation’s capital. These brave men and women are serving with distinction as they protect communities from high crime. We are grateful for their dedication and sacrifice. “

The following day, September 4, he expressed his backing for legislation related to higher education accreditation standards: “Proud to back @RepStefanik’s Fairness in Higher Education Accreditation Act. Colleges should NOT be strong-armed into sex-based quotas by woke accreditors. Merit, academic rigor, & freedom must guide higher ed. NOT Washington’s political games.”

On September 5, Norman commented on proposed tax legislation aimed at working families: “The Working Families Tax Cut is just that — tax breaks for hard-working Americans who deserve to keep what they’ve earned. It is a win for the American people!”

Norman has represented South Carolina’s 5th District in Congress since replacing Mick Mulvaney in 2017 and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2005 to 2017. Born in Rock Hill in 1953 and an alumnus of Presbyterian College (class of 1975), Norman continues to reside in Rock Hill while serving his constituents.
