Rep. Ralph Norman, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 5th district since 2017, has recently used his social media platform to highlight provisions of the “One Big Beautiful Bill” (OBBB) and its potential impact on workers in his state.

On July 18, 2025, Norman wrote that “OBBB eliminates taxes on overtime and tips—a game changer for working folks. 66% of SC workers could benefit from the overtime tax cut 5% of SC’s workforce will benefit from the tip tax cut This is what putting American workers first looks like.”

Later that day, he attributed these changes to the former president’s policies, posting “This is the Trump economic agenda at work! https://t.co/JOWRT96MoD” on July 18.

The following day, Norman emphasized how the legislation could affect household incomes: “A typical SC family of four will take home $6,900–$9,800 more under the One Big Beautiful Bill. More money in your pocket. Not Washington’s.” (July 19).

Norman has served in Congress since replacing Mick Mulvaney in 2017 and previously held office in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2005 to 2017. He was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina in 1953 and continues to reside there. Norman graduated from Presbyterian College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1975.
