Rep. Ralph Norman, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 5th district since 2017, recently used his social media platform to address ongoing legislative and economic issues. Norman called for continued action on government spending and commented on the current state of the U.S. economy, while also criticizing political opponents.
On July 30, 2025, Norman advocated for additional budget cuts in a post: “We passed a great rescissions package. But we need more. I’m urging the White House to send a new rescissions bill every two weeks!”
Later that day, he addressed concerns about the national economy: “Despite all the doom-and-gloom from Democrats, the U.S. economy grew at a 3% clip last quarter. Turns out, standing up to China and protecting American jobs doesn’t kill the economy after all. Imagine that.” The post referenced recent economic data indicating quarterly growth.
On July 31, Norman commented on partisan divides in American politics: “The Left doesn’t want debate. They want to divide, demonize, and destroy. Americans are tired of the fearmongering and fed up with the double standards.”
Norman has represented South Carolina’s 5th District in Congress since succeeding Mick Mulvaney in 2017 and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2005 to 2017. Born in Rock Hill in 1953, he continues to reside there and is an alumnus of Presbyterian College.
