ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – From Eagle Scouts to entrepreneurs, from outstanding athletes to academic stars…Winthrop University’s Class of 2025 is already soaring to success.
Fall 2021 classes began this week. Although COVID-19 has campus still requiring masks and encouraging vaccination, social distancing and good hygiene, it certainly feels good to welcome new Eagles.
Here are a few of our awesome new students:
*Carlie Pundt (elementary education) stands at 45 inches tall and attends the Little People of America International Conference each year.
*Elloise Bethea (design) completed her last two years of high school in 11 months so that she could train at the Valentina Kozlova Dance Conservatory in New York. She’s also competed in international ballet competitions.
*Tyson Hall’s (business administration) family owns an aviation business and he is preparing to fly an R22 helicopter – solo!
*Madison and Melanie Williams (undeclared) are attending Winthrop together. They’re triplets with a third sister, who is currently in high school.
*Carol “Shea” Linton (biology) was Chesterfield County’s first dual enrollment student, graduating from Northeastern Technical College with an associate’s degree. She served as student government president there and has spoken at two national conferences and on Capitol Hill.
*Ayden Lowman (theatre), Gabe Halka (exercise science), Parker Short (psychology), Joseph Bokern (business administration) and Trey “James” Slagle (physical education) are Eagle Scouts, while Jayde Kozar (design) and Abby Mervine (elementary education) are highly ranked in Girl Scouts.
