Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on October 6.
During the month of August, our Bloodhounds, Honeybun and Brutus, welcomed into the world nine precious babies. After giving birth, Honeybun had complications and spent several days at the vet, so First Sergeant Jerry Lundy and his wife, Kayla, began bottle feeding.
After Honeybun was released from the vet, she was unable to nurse her babies. Our employees stepped up to help the Lundy’s. One weekend, the puppies packed a weekend bag to stay with Sergeant Justin Reichard and his wife, Katelyn. While Lundy was on night shift, the puppies came to the office for bottle feeding and some love from the office staff and their children.
These bloodhounds will be used within our office and in other law enforcement agencies. Training will begin in the months to come.
Honeybun is doing well! Her puppies have received the best love and care. Special thanks to the Lundy’s for all they have done for these puppies and especially for the around the clock care they have given. Also, thank you to our employees that stepped up to help while still getting their regular work done.
