ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Marilyn Whitlock, a 21-year member of the Winthrop University custodial staff, passed away on Oct. 19.
Family members said that the 56-year-old Rock Hill resident had suffered complications from an ongoing illness. She was most recently assigned to work in the Macfeat House and Carroll Hall.
Whitlock’s sister, Sheila Anderson, also a Winthrop employee, said her older sister was a church-going member who loved her family of four daughters and a son.
“She was joyful,” Anderson said. “She loved watching TV, like Lifetime and old series like the ‘Andy Griffith Show.’”
Pam Purser, Whitlock’s supervisor, said she was a quiet woman who had a sweet personality. “I never saw her get upset at anyone,” Purser said. “She was very thorough in her work.”
Funeral arrangements are not finalized and are being handled by Faith Funeral Home in York.
