At the May 31st school board meeting, the Chesterfield County School District Board of Trustees voted to accept the resignation of Dr. H. Goodwin. Recently, Dr. Goodwin accepted the opportunity to serve as superintendent in neighboring Kershaw County. As a result, the Chesterfield County School Board of Trustees voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Chan Anderson as the Interim Superintendent of Chesterfield County School District, effective immediately.
Dr. Anderson began his teaching career in 1995 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he also served as a basketball coach, assistant principal, and principal. Later, he served as a principal in Florence School District One. In 2013, Dr. Anderson joined the Chesterfield County School District as the Executive Director of Personnel. In 2016, Dr. Anderson was appointed to serve as the district’s Assistant Superintendent.
Tonight, School Board Chairman Mr. Chad Vick stated, “We are very happy to have had Dr. Anderson with us over the last nine years. During this time, he has demonstrated his ability to lead our school district and do what is in the best interest of our students and district stakeholders. We could not have had a better person and leader to serve as our Interim Superintendent.”
According to Dr. Anderson, “I am incredibly humbled by the School Board’s confidence in having me to serve in this role. I am looking forward to the collaborate work with our district stakeholders to improve and build on our districts’ current successes. I am also very proud and thankful for all of the efforts that our community, parents and employees have put forth into this school year. Now, the preparation begins to ensure that our school administrators, staff and teachers are ready to begin growing our students when they arrive on the first day of the new school year, which begins on August 15, 2022.”
The Chesterfield County School Board of Trustees also voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Tammy Haile as the Interim Assistant Superintendent of Chesterfield County School District, effective immediately.
Dr. Haile is currently in her 28th year in the school district. Since 2011, she has served as the Executive Director of Career And Technical Education/Information Technology. Prior to this role, she was Director of Career and Technical Education.
According to School Board Chairman Vick, “Dr. Haile is ready to step into this leadership role and provide the support needed to help move district forward. She has work closely with Dr. Anderson for the past nine years. I have always been impressed with the camaraderie between the two.”
Dr. Haile stated, “I am looking forward to working alongside Dr. Anderson in helping equip our children with the necessary skills to be successful.”
