Clinton College Announces Fall Convocation Speaker

Rock Hill, SC-- Clinton College will hold its Fall 2022 Opening Convocation on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at 11:00 am in the JW Martin Gymnasium. Convocation is the ceremonial opening of the academic year.

This year, Dr. Dwaun J. Warmack will serve as the Convocation speaker. Dr. Warmack is the 9th President of Claflin University. He has more than 20 years of progressive administrative experience in higher education at six distinct institutions. Dr. Warmack provides a brand of leadership that is characterized by an unqualified insistence on data-driven decision-making and a commitment to higher education’s current best practices. A visionary with a unique understanding and appreciation for today’s Generation Z students, he is committed to academic integration and the holistic development of students.

Dr. Warmack earned a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in sociology from Delta State University. He earned his doctorate in educational leadership with a specialization in higher education from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, and completed post-doctoral training at Harvard University.

“Convocation is a time for our beloved community to gather as we welcome students, faculty, and staff back for the new academic year while honoring the college’s traditions, said Dr. McCorn, President of Clinton College. We are excited that Dr. Warmack will be joining us for such a special occasion.”

Clinton College is a historically black, private institution founded in 1894 by the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
