Read 4 Fun Teen Book Club – Lewisville (October/November Meeting)

Curious to see what the current book club read is?

October/November books for the Read 4 Fun Teen Book Club at Lewisville Community Library are “The Thirteenth Cat” by Mary Downing Hahn and “Twins” by Varian Johnson.

The Read 4 Fun Teen Book Club is for 5th to 8th graders interested in joining a group of their peers in reading and discussing a book monthly. This book club meets the 4th Thursday of the month at the Lewisville Community Library.

Next meeting will be November 3, 2022.

Summary:

The Thirteenth Cat:

Zoey loves spending the summer with her Aunt Alice, and her aunt’s new house is the perfect place to cozy up with a good book. But she’s unnerved by the overgrown forest next door, which is creepy even in the daytime and full of eerie sounds at night.

Worse, there are rumors in town of a dark force in those woods. And Zoey can’t deny that the wild black cats who live there seem to be watching her.

When she encounters a mean old woman who claims to be their owner, Zoey realizes there’s more to the cats than meets the eye. But little does she know that the closer she comes to discovering their secret, the more danger she’s in . . .

Twins:

Maureen and Francine Carter are twins and best friends. They participate in the same clubs, enjoy the same foods, and are partners on all their school projects. But just before the girls start sixth grade, Francine becomes Fran — a girl who wants to join the chorus, run for class president, and dress in fashionable outfits that set her apart from Maureen. A girl who seems happy to share only two classes with her sister!

Maureen and Francine are growing apart and there’s nothing Maureen can do to stop it. Are sisters really forever? Or will middle school change things for good?
