The HBCU Library Alliance has approved programming for Clinton College Digital Library and Learning Commons totaling $21,000.00 for a Preservation Needs Assessment, a Collection Management Policy, a Handling and Use Policy, a Care & Maintenance Policy, a Housekeeping Policy, and an Integrated Pest Management Program. Approved programming and services will be delivered this summer. This programming is an integral part of the Building Capacity for Humanities Special Collections at HBCUs five-year project funded in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). The NEH grant is a $365,000 matching challenge grant that assists member libraries in improving collection stewardship through a menu of preservation services and education programs. By helping member libraries to move forward in achieving collection care goals, the HBCU Library Alliance is supporting the libraries in building capacity for fundraising for special collection initiatives, documenting cultural heritage materials, increasing accessibility of special collection items, and promoting the humanities significance of their irreplaceable cultural heritage artifacts.
