York County’s 18 coaches earned an average salary of $72,627 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the fifth highest average salary per county earned by coaches at South Carolina post-secondary schools during 2022.

York County is home to two post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Winthrop University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $82,275.

Male coaches of men's teams received $92,992 on average in York County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $65,483.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
