White Oak Manor – Rock Hill led York County nursing homes by bed count in Q1

White Oak Manor – Rock Hill was the largest nursing home in York County for the first quarter of 2026, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported.

The facility had 136 beds available, exceeding York County’s average by 52 beds during that period. It served an average of 134.6 residents throughout the quarter.

CMS awarded White Oak Manor – Rock Hill a 3 out of 5 overall rating, matching the average rating of 3 among South Carolina nursing homes.

Pruitthealth Rock Hill ranked second locally, offering 132 beds, while White Oak Manor – York placed third with 109 beds available.

By the end of the first quarter of 2026, White Oak Manor – Rock Hill accumulated one fine totaling $7,446 and received one penalty.

Altogether, there were six for-profit nursing homes in York County, South Carolina.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates show that the country’s population of older adults continues to rise as younger age groups decrease. The number of Americans age 65 and up grew by 13% from 2020 to 2024, while the population under 18 dropped by 1.7%. Over the past century, the country’s older adult population expanded significantly, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.

A 2021 study estimates that nearly half of this group, about 28 million people, may require long-term services and supports. More than a third are projected to eventually need nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
