Winthrop men’s golf finished in fourth place at the Peoples Golf Championship at Sea Palms, according to a March 14 announcement. The team posted its best score of the tournament during the final round, moving up five spots on the leaderboard.

The result is significant as it marks another strong performance for Winthrop, who finished under par for the second consecutive tournament. The event took place at Sea Palms Resort in St. Simons Island, Georgia, with a par-71 course measuring 6,608 yards.

During the final round, Winthrop recorded a team score of 278, which was two shots better than their opening round. Junior Ashton Eubanks led the team on Saturday with a four-under-par 67 and moved up 40 places to tie for 48th overall. Freshman Dylan Park followed closely with a three-under-par 68 and tied for 16th place—his fifth top-20 finish this season. Sophomore Thomas Lamar posted an even-par final round and achieved his best career finish by tying for 11th place; he also matched his personal best over 54 holes at three-under.

The Eagles’ lineup combined to go eight-under on the front nine and made a total of 21 birdies during the day. The team’s overall score was two-under-par (850), placing them behind Western Carolina (-15), Xavier (-13), and Samford (-11). Villanova and Drexel rounded out the top five teams with even par scores.

Looking ahead, Winthrop will compete next at The Hootie at Bulls Bay in Awendaw, South Carolina from March 22 to March 24.
