Four Finalists Announced for Winthrop Provost Position

HIGHLIGHTS
•    The university conducted a national search to find a good fit who would serve as the university’s chief academic officer.

•    Members of campus and local communities are encouraged to attend each candidate's public presentation and meet and greet session.

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA - Four finalists for Winthrop University's provost position will interview on campus the week of March 27-31.

The finalists are:

*Laurie Couch, associate provost at Morehead State University

*John (Matt) Matthews, vice provost at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga

*Jack DeRochi, dean of The Graduate School at Winthrop University

*Nicole Guajardo, dean of the College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences at Christopher Newport University

Marsha Bollinger, professor emerita of geology who chaired the 12-member search committee, said the university conducted a national search with search firm Myers McRae to find a good slate of candidates who could serve as the university’s chief academic officer and guide the academic direction of Winthrop. “We feel confident that these finalists will yield the right person who will work collaboratively across all academic and administrative support units to reflect the university’s commitment to academic excellence, teaching and research.”

Members of campus and local communities are encouraged to attend each candidate's public presentation as well as the meet and greet session.
