Barnhill named Director of Alternative Programs

Mr. Damon Barnhill has been named Director of Alternative Programs for the Chesterfield County School District.

Mr. Barnhill has served as the principal of Central High School over the past five years. Prior to serving as principal he served as an assistant principal at Central High School for three years, while also participating in the district’s Aspiring Principal’s Program.  He began his career in 1999 as a high school social studies teacher.

Mr. Barnhill earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in History and Secondary Education from Lander University.  He later earned his Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University in 2006. He is a licensed administrator in the state of South Carolina.

Mr. Barnhill’s background and training in school administration has prepared him to take on this new role as Director of Alternative Programs. His training in Read to Succeed and the SC Teaching Standards will also serve him well in his new role. His positive interpersonal skills provide him with the needed quality of relating to middle and high school students in need of an alternative setting.

Mr. Barnhill is ready take on this new leadership role and excited to have a great impact on the district’s Alternative Program.
